Using Digital Archives in a Literature Class

Using Digital Archives in a Literature Class

This assignment was used in a Spanish literature class taught at Colorado College by Daniel Arroyo-Rodriguez. One of the challenges he faced is how to "bring to life this event for students that are ideologically, culturally and chronologically detached from it?" The approach he used was to take advantage of primary sources available on the Internet in digital archives and have students integrate those with their study of Spanish literature. The goal was to help students "gain a better understanding of the civil war and of how this event is currently being reinterpreted and reconstructed through cultural representation." A more complete description of the project is available in the PowerPoint poster.
